Time Management Tips for eBayers

One of the issues many people who work from home either part-time or full time suffer with is Time Management. Yes we have the freedom, of working from home and as long as we get all the projects planned for the day or week done, we can fit in more social aspects into our lives that we could not do if we were working in an office. But we must not this get out of hand and we must let family and friends know that although we work from home, we do have set hours and we do have work to do.

The same goes for a husband who works from home and his wife still goes out to work. When this happens Time Management is very important. Very often the wife or husband will say to their partner, oh, can you get the wishing in, pick the kids up from school, hang the washing out. Now while this is OK once in a while, you must not let it take over the working hours. But there is another but here, you can factor into your daily schedule these things and if this works for you go ahead and do it. But you must allow time for it.

Something else that will rob you of time is friends just dropping in for a “chat” and the chat turning into a few hours. Time is money and you are not paid to sit and chat to friends now you are self-employed, at the onset of your business and working from home you need to set down some ground rules.

  • The hours you work
  • How long you allow yourself for lunch
  • How long you allow yourself for breaks
You need to treat your eBay business as a business, and once people see you are serious they will respect you and not “bother” you unless it is an emergency.
Also you need to set some guide lines for yourself on what time you are going to start to work and what time you will finish. Will you work evening and weekends. Sadly I cannot help you with this (I can guide you), it is down to you, your lifestyle, your family. If you are single then it is a lot different to having a family of young children. The demands on you are a lot different.
Don’t beat yourself up if things do not always go as planned…………….work round it and as you work from home you are able to work a few extra hours here and there and you also have the ability to work at weekends to make up for lost time.
Set those goals and manage your time and very soon Time Management will be part of your life.
