Once you have sold all the items in your home and those of your family and friends will need to start to look for other items to sell online. Of course the world is your oyster you can sell anything you want (Well I say anything of course it has to be legal and ethical). But today I want to tell you about one niche that has a vast and rabid client base. A niche that has money to spend, and not just a few pounds or dollars, they have thousands to spend, and the ones on smaller budgets just seem to find the money for this product.

Oh and something else these people are serial buyers, they keep coming back time and time again to buy the latest item in your store. So what is this powerful niche with buyers with cash to spend ? Well believe it or not it is art, yes Art.

Now before we get started in how you can get a foor into the great world of Art Sourcing, I can hear you saying, “I know nothing about Art” to be honest you do not need to know anything at all about art to start selling it, but what you do need to have is the ability and the hunger to learn as you go and be willing to study the items you are wanting to sell.

When you start to sell into the art market, you cannot say “Oh I will just sell Art” you need to drill down into the niche. You need to say, I will just sell art pictures, or I will just sell art prints, or other works of art. As time goes by and you have learnt and studied you go can broader in your niche.

Now once you have studied and done some research on the type of art you would like to sell you will need to start to drill down again (sorry). Do you want to sell portraits, stilllife, animals, landscape, seascape – and here too you can if you wish drill down again and find sub niches it is up to you how deep you go within your niche.

Next you need to go to eBay and do some research and see what prices go for in the art niches you want to sell to and in. Once you have done this, the time has come to hit the streets, those art gallaries, craft fairs, art groups. You will need to make contact with these people, and show them how you can open up their work to a worldwide market place with eBay.

At this stage you will need to have a plan in place, the commission you will charge them. (This will be covered in future articles. ) Show them the prices that have been reached by other artists in the different niches.

As I said at the start this business can be started without any prior knowledge of the world of art, but you must be willing to learn on your feet and as go. You will need to do some studying, but for the bit of hard work you will do the rewards can be fantastic.
