Does Retail Arbitrage Really Work In The UK ?

Does retail arbitrage really work in the Uk, is a question I am seeing time and time againFBAPic.png recently on the forums and groups. And the simple answer is yes it does work. Yes it is a bit harder here in the UK than it is in the USA.

To make it work you need to get out there, scan, scan, scan and guess what scan items. Yes it takes time, yes it takes work, yes it takes patience. Remember this is a business you are running, and if you ask any successful business person here in the UK, or around the world and they will tell you that it took time, work and failures to build it to what the business is now. And will continue to take time and hard work.

I believe one of the factors why people are saying it does not work, is the fact that they are going where the masses are going. Now please do not get me wrong on this I love to help people, yes think it is great when people share a BOLO (Be on the look out), but let’s have a little look at this. Say I see a hot product in Tesco, and quickly add a post to one of the many groups out there in the UK for sellers. Suddenly hundreds and at times thousands of people see that, dash out and buy the product. Now we have the situation of where the sales rank was good, two or three FBA sellers and a good price, to 25 FBA sellers and people tanking the price. Not so good now.

  • When I go to a store online or offline I tend to go where there are less crowds, I look at the back of the shelves, I look on the bottom of shelves, depending on how I feel I will ask the section manager if they have any shelf-pulls they need to shift as I might be interested if the price was right.
  • Think about packs and bundles as you are walking around the store, think how can I be different and stand out from the crowd. How can I turn this product into something different that people need.
  • Get yourself out there on a regular basis, visit those stores, keep those eyes peeled, ears open to what opportunities are hidden, just waiting for you and me to take advantage of.
  • Also when doing Retail Arbitrage both online and offline do not go for quantity of the same items. Only buy 2 or 3 of each item. Go wide instead of going deep. Only go deep when the item is a proven seller and look at buying those proven sellers from a wholesaler.

But the golden egg in all of this Retail Arbitrage is take a wander down those, small country lanes where the path is less trodden and there are only a handful of people and it is on these shelves, often hidden that you can find those gems of products. Also again visit the smaller retailer and see what they have on offer.

Sadly in this modern day society if you ask people are they living a generous lifestyle most will say not a chance we do not have enough cash to live on…….let alone give money away. It is not about the money, yes it is nice if you had the money to share with others, but you can live a generous lifestyle in so many different ways.

  • For example giving someone in the street a simple smile.
  • Saying thank you to the checkout person at the supermarket, it is amazing when I am in a store people do not say a simple thank you and give a smile.
  • Helping someone with their shopping to their car.
  • Cutting a neighbours lawn or doing their garden
  • Baking a cake or a meal for someone who is sick, or just come out of hospital.
  • Take a friend, colleague, neighbour out for a cup of coffee or tea (or even a meal).
  • What about just paying for someone’s drink, or meal in a restaurant, scary yes.
  • Just spending time with a friend or loved one. Yes this simple act is what living a generous lifestyle is all about.

As you can see this simple acts of living a generous lifestyle can cost nothing apart from a bit of time or a simple smile. But the difference it can make in someone’s life can make a massive difference to them.

If you do one of the above at least once a day, very soon you will have random people in the street just giving you a smile, saying thank you if you hold a door open and the list goes on.

Also you will see a difference in your business all from a simple smile – but how can you live this generous lifestyle online? Well let’s take a look.

  • Just say thank you to someone who gives you a tip or shares some information.
  • Maybe share a link t your own page on Facebook

  • Put a simple thank you note in parcels going out.

I hope this helps you to see how living a generous lifestyle can make a difference in so many peoples lives. Why not ty it tomorrow and share below the reaction you had. Just try it, and start on the exciting journey of living a generous lifestyle.

How often Are You Listing Items?

Recently I have been hearing people say that their sales have not as been as How often Are You Listing Items?
good as they were a few months back. Well, this could just be down to the fact that it is summer and people are away on holiday, spending time with their children and just spending more time outside.

Yes, I know there are other reasons why sales can be down, such as more people are selling the same item, prices have dropped and maybe even the product is coming to the end of its sales life. In fact, it could be a whole host of issues, but it could also be down to something else, something so simple you will kick yourself when you find out. Any ideas?

It could just come down to the fact that you are not listing enough items on your selling platform – eBay, Amazon, Etsy. In fact it does not matter which of the platforms you list on, what matters is you list items on a regular basis.

In an ideal world if you can list items on a daily basis you would see your sales increase on a daily basis. Also, you need to keep adding new items to increase the total amount of items you have up for sale. It is a proven fact also the more items you have up for sale, the more items sell.

So what next?

List items on a regular basis – ideally daily but if that is not possible try and list a few times a week at least.

  • Increase your stock levels on a regular basis
  • Join the above two actions together and you will see increased sales and more money in your bank accounts.

The Sun Is Out, Holidays Are Here, But Are You Still Sourcing?

Yes it is that time of year when the sun is out, schools are breaking up and Do You List During The summer holidayspeople are more interested in having fun outside and thinking about that holiday they have been planning on for over a year, and for most the online selling has taken a back burner. Now do not get me wrong holidays are good, time to spend lazy fun filled days with family and friends and to recharge those batteries, but should we just forget about sourcing and our business for a few weeks?

Well, sorry to say, we are in business and if we run the business on our own with maybe a few VA’s and a Prep Company then we do need to keep a watchful eye on the business. No I do not mean you need to take your laptops with you and have them on 16 hours a day, just your smart phone (and maybe a tablet) with the Amazon Sellers App on will do, something to just check for any messages from buyers, as you do not want to allow these to go over the 24 hour period, and yes maybe peek at sales, – it is fun to watch those sales happening while you are somewhere in the world relaxing.

As for sourcing while you are away. Well some people love to do this few a few hours in their day. Depending on where you are in the world, you might find some cool products at super cool prices that you can buy and flip onto Amazon. If it is only a few items these can go in your suitcase, but if you go mad and buy loads then you may need to make up some UPS / DHL etc boxes and send them back home ready for you send into Amazon on your return home.

Also if you time it right you can order items just before you go away, this therefore allows your prep company to work on everything and send them into Amazon for you, while you relax. (You just need to work on labels etc, but several prep companies now use user permissions to access your account to print labels)

So there you are done right, you can be relaxing somewhere in the world on a beach, and all the time the mighty Amazon is selling your items and making you nice profits.

Why You Need To Source On A Regular Basis

The other day I was asked the question “Do I really need to source items on a Toys.jpgregular basis to sell in my Amazon and eBay business?” Now you may think this was a question coming from a new person in the business, but in fact it was from a seller who has been selling online for many years. To start with I thought she was having a bit of a joke, but no she was being serious.

I then asked her how often she sourced for items for her online ventures, and she said just when she felt like it. Now I knew this girl only did this business part-time, as she had a job, and when I asked her was this due to the hours she worked she said no not at all. I was now puzzled so asked her when was the last time she sourced and she said before Christmas…………………………….

Then in the next breath she said and to be honest I am not motivated as my sales are so slow. I explained the sales were low, because she had not sourced or listed any items for almost six months so no wonder sales are almost zero.

I then explained that to make Amazon and eBay work and bring in a real income one needs to be out there sourcing products on a daily or weekly basis and then listing them on sites such as eBay and Amazon. And if you are doing Amazon send them into Amazon FBA.

It is a very simple process

  • Source
  • List
  • Sell
  • Rinse and Repeat

And if you can do the above on a weekly basis then you will start to see an increase in your sales, and these sales will then motivate you to go out more and list more. Also remember if you are out sourcing and not listing the inventory you have at home is just lying there and gathering dust and not making money. It needs to be listed on eBay and stored safe or if doing Amazon listed and sent into one of the Amazon warehouses.

A model I have been following for a long time and I know other people have been using in one form or another is…………………………………….

  • During the week if working source online and place your orders so they all arrive where possible by the weekend. And where you can pop into local shops.
  • Weekend visit local stores, Charity Shops, Car Boot sales, Fates etc
  • Sunday afternoon and evening list items on eBay
  • Sunday afternoon and evening list items onto Amazon and prepare the UPS pick up for Monday

The above is very powerful and once you have been using it for a few weeks it becomes part of your life. Of course you may need to tweak it to fit your lifestyle, but the important thing is you do it and take action.

So in closing the reason why you need to source on a regular basis is so that you always have new items to attract new buyers and keep your online stores looking alive and fresh. And because the more you list the more you sell.

UK Product Source – Costco

Today we look at general wholesaler, and the chosen one is Costco. Costco is a bit different from most wholesalers as it is more a buyers club with a Costcomembership fee.

But the yearly fee is well worth it and you can find some awesome buys both on an off line. Also look out for their brand names the main one is “Kirkland”

Sourcing The Life Blood Of Your Amazon / eBay Business

As a Amazon / ebay consultant it has been worrying me recently when have beenSourcing The Life Blood Of Your Amazon / eBay Business talking with people and I hear they have been struggling with sourcing products to re-sell. Yes we can have a grasp of how the numbers all work, what sales rank is and how to buy within sales rank and make sure there are only a few FBA sellers, we can have top marks for that.

But if we cannot grasp hold of how to source and what sourcing is then our business will slowly die a death. Therefore I have decided to spend the next week or so, and look at what sourcing is, and how to do it in a way that is fun and enjoyable and at times can involve your family and friends.

We will look at many different ways of how to source, for example:

  • Retail Arbitrage
  • Online Arbitrage
  • Wholesale
  • Importing
  • Private Label
  • Craft
  • Trade Shows

As ecommerce sellers we need to learn not only just how to source but to make it a fun part of our business. If we do not enjoy getting out there and finding new products then our business will slowly die a death as there will be no products in our stores for people to buy. And if people keep coming back and find the same items time after time they soon get bored and will look elsewhere.

Over the course of this mini how to source course we will look at many different and creative ways to source products using a range of free and paid for tools. As I mentioned at the start it is good to know your numbers and it is a must, but numbers without products is no good, and products without knowing the numbers is no good either so we need both. And throughout this process you will see how we can do this.

If you have any questions please leave them in the comments section below or over on our Facebook Page and we will help you all we can. Lets make this interactive and above all lets have some fun.

How Amazon Can Change Your Life For Ever

Did you know Amazon can change your life for ever? Have you ever wondered FBAwhat it would be like to have a global retail business with products selling 24 hours a day, and you never having to send a single package out, rarely deal with customers, and even manage your business from the beach? And having a payment sent to your bank account every 14 days?  Well this is the world on Amazon FBA. Or Fulfillment By Amazon.

But before you all start packing your cases and heading to the beach, I do need to tell you something you still need to do some work – sorry. But the work is fun.  It means you can go shopping and buy lots of cool items, toys, gadgets, home and kitchenware, clothing, food, cosmetics and the list goes on and on. And yes you do need to add them to Amazon and print a label and stick onto the products, then pop them all into some boxes and wave them good bye as the UPS driver drives off into the sunset to one of the Amazon warehouses in your country.

To many this all may seem a dream or even a con, but honestly it is not, this is a business model that has been around for many years and is earning people part and full time incomes. But as I said there is some work involved and a few best practices that you need to follow to make sure your items that you buy sell better and faster. And over the coming weeks and months we will look at these in depth. And also do videos so you can watch what I am doing.

But for now I would like to recommend a course that has helped many people achieve their goals of having their own business and being able of giving up their full time work.

And for those of you who sell on eBay, how would you like the same process to happen? Well for a lot of the items you sell you can also list on Amazon, send the items into Amazon and then when you make a sale on eBay, you just pop over to Amazon, click a few buttons and enter in the name and address of buyer and Amazon do your packing and shipping……. so now you need never shut your eBay shop down even when on holiday. (Please note there are some products you cannot do this with, and again this will be explained in depth, but if you have any questions please ask)

Well there we are Amazon really can change your life, the life of your family, give it a go and see the difference it can make.

What Are The Best Items To Start With On Amazon?

One of the popular questions I get as a Coach and Consultant in the world on e commerce is “What are the best items to start with on Amazon?” Now I know there are millions of products out there and still millions more being introduced to the market place on a regular pattern. But I am going to be open and honest with you some will hate this other will love it …………………… Books, yes that simple hubble pile of paper is what is best to start with.

Now before you think I have gone mad and what about this product or that product or have I not heard that so and so is selling like hot cakes, I have, but to most sellers new or semi new a lot of these cool products are out of their range, either on price, quantity they need to buy, or getting approval.

But when you boil it all down and crunch everything together Books really are the best items to start with on Amazon, they are easy to source and low cost to buy.

Books to stay away from……..

  • Fiction
  • Book Club
  • Most Paper Back books
  • Readers Digest Type books

The best books to source are ……..

  • Non fiction
  • Theology Books
  • Law Books
  • Cookery Books
  • Text Books
  • University Books
  • College Books

Where to source these books ……

  • Car Boot Sales
  • Estate Sales
  • Charity Shops
  • Thrift Stores
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Neighbours
  • Theology Colleges
  • Universities
  • Colleges
  • Adverts in Craigslist
  • Flyers
  • Cards on Notice Boards
  • Word of Mouth
  • And the list goes on and on

Over the coming weeks and months we will in depth of how and where to source, but for now spread your net far and wide and look for books everywhere

When you source remember buy as low as possible when making offers make low offers you can always come up on price if need be but you can never come down.

Never commit over phone or email to a price you are prepared to make as you do not know the condition of the book until you sell it.

Lastly always meet in a public place and tell someone where you are going and try to go with someone. Stay safe

Hope this short article has helped you think when you are wondering what are the best items to start with on Amazon.
