Hello and welcome back. Sorry I have not been updating this blog as often as I like but I have been busy with a new client, and helping them on their venture into the wonderful world of eBay.
Well onto todays post.
Are your sales down or slow at the moment ? Well I guess if they are, you will be thinking about reducing your prices. Stop right there…………………………. reducing your prices is the last thing you want to do. (Ok if you really cannot sell the stock, then yes sell it at a low profit or no profit make some cash for new stock and move on). But I am looking at another method which some of the top online sellers use all over the world.
If you reduce your prices other sellers will do the same and there will be a pricing war and soon no one is making any money – well the main supplier is, but no one else is. Let take a look at another path you can take.
For our example let us say you are selling a product in the pet niche. This is a dog bed, when you started only a few people were selling them but over the years more people have come into the market place and the retail price has dropped so now you are only making a few £’s per sale (you used to make £12.00) but still you are selling a few aday so you are happy. The bed used to sell for £50.00, now it is selling for £35.00 and sometimes cheaper.
I want you to sell it for £60.00……………………….. What I hear you shout have you gone mad, well maybe but hear me out.
The other sellers are selling the bed for £35.00, most charge £15.00 shipping and it takes 10 days to send out.
But you sell it for £60.00, offer free next day delivery and in the listing give the owner a few treats for the dog, plus some hints and tips on keeping the bed clean and tidy. Dog owners will love this, as you are thinking of their cute dog.
You are giving them FREE next day delivery, at present no one else is.
You are giving them free gifts, no one else is.
Honest increase the price, add some value to the item at no or little cost to you and your sales will go back up.
