Now I am going to be very honest here, but the truth is I do not really watch TV, you may laugh but it is true and the TV I watch is always on catch up TV, so I can see the bits I need. But the one program I watch time after time is The Apprentice.

I find the way Lord Sugar interacts and challenges the people is fantastic. Yes I know we only see an hour, out of a weeks filming, but people in business small should sit down with note pad and pen and watch and re-watch each program and make notes, and then put into action what they learn. For instance on one of the latest programs he says about the beauty industry……………………”If he (Lord Sugar ) was not in electronics he would be in the beauty industry” Why because of the massive profits in that business – both product but more so the treatment side. Buy low and sell high and you will make money, end of story.

Yes we often watch a program like that to see how people will re-act to each other, but why not watch the program with the “Lord Sugar” glasses on. Learn from the challenges he gives the teams, watch how they put the challenge into practice, but also make notes on how you would re-act or how you would do it better. And then put some of those ideas into action.

Also learn from the comments that Karen and Nick make, but also watch how they re-act to situations, sometimes their faces say it all – again we can learn from this, maybe we are about to do the same type of things in our own business and life. Karen is a great business woman, and going back many years, I came across her when she sold advertising, she knew her business and with a drive and passion she got to the top of her field, and then the world of business opened up to her.

Yes we may laugh, and cry at The Apprentice but next time you watch it, have a pad and pen in your hand and watch and learn from Lord Sugar and his group of apprentices, and who knows one day it could be you.
