Unless you have just arrived on planet earth, you will have heard a word, that is on everyones lips, and not a week goes past when there is some mention of it in the media. The word I am talking about is Facebook. Facebook in the few years it has been around has taken the online world by storm. They currently have over 500 million people in their system. Yes you read that right half a billion people.

Over time Facebook has matured and there are many businesses, pop stars and charities who use the platform to connect with their members and fans. There are many methods using Facebook where you can connect and chat with your fan base, and the most common area is to set up a fan page. Here people can come and chat and you can tell tehem all the offers and stuff about your business.

But there is another area that not many people know about, and if used in the correct manner, could bring sales time and time again into your business. I am talking about Facebook Ad’s. We all have heard about classified adverts in papers and Google adwords, but those two although good are very general. For example, you are selling a product that only people with red hair, blue eyes and live in a two bedroom house, and have 4 cars, plus they are single. Now a “normal” advert will just go into the paper or onto Google and maybe the few people who need your product will see it. This is not good and will cost you money.

But there is Facebook adverts, you know those adverts that pop up on the right hand side of Facebook. But did you know you could have 12 people in a room all on Facebook at the same time on computers and each one would see a different advert. The adverts feed of the profile you set up when you joined……………. So if you are a married guy and put that you were single you would see loads of dating adverts – (just be warned !!!) Also if you liked dogs and walking and put that in your profile you would notice that type of advert appearing on your home page. In effect people are writing their own advert wanted.

Now let’s flip the coin, you now know how those adverts appear. So let us go back to that person with red hair, blue eyes and four cars. When you have written your advert, you can tick boxes as to where and who your advert appears to. In fact you can fine tune it so much that it would only appear to people in a certain town or area.

Facebook adverts are a very powerful medium to reach your buyers and this short article could never do justice to setting them up the correct way. It takes time and practise, and Facebook themselves have loads of useful information. Give it a go and as it is a PPC advert it will not cost you much to try.
