How To Prepare A Parcel

Well it is time to prepare a parcel, the fun of the auction has ended and your item has sold. Well done. Lonf before your item sells it is a good idea to source the box, bubble wrap etc that you will be using. You do not want to sell an item and then find that you have nothing to pack it in and are having to run around town trying to find a box, bubble wrap big enough to pack your item in. One of the common questions that I am asked about how to prepare a parcel is I use recycled boxes and Bubble wrapYou need to wrap the item in Bubble Wrap. Then I place some more bubble wrap in the bottom of the box and up the sides, so that when the item is placed in the box you can fold the excess wrap over the top. If there is still room in the box I either put more bubble wrap or packing chippings to pack out the empty spaces. The idea is that when you close the lip down, and give it a shake it does not move. If all is well, add the invoice and any other bits you put in the box.

The next stage when you prepare a parcel is where I use a Packing tape gun and seal the box up. I do like to do this well and cover all the edges so that when I have finished the box has been covered by tape. Some people say this is a waste of time and tape but how I see it, the box is now water tight (within reason).

Next I put on the address label and again I put see through tape over this. This allows to paper to be water tight. Then I put Fragile stickers on all sides of the box. I use these stickers on all items even if it is not fragile as it helps people throwing it around etc (I hope)

Then I put any tracking labels and customs labels on the box, and if I am using a carrier I place their paper work on box. And then put my return address on the box, in case of problems.

The box is now ready for either the carrier to pick up or for me to take to the Post Office. Simple, fun and once you have the hang of it you will be packing items in no time at all. I hope you enjoyed this article on How to Prepare A Parcel, and that it saved you some stress when you pack items.
