eBay Sales Down?

eBay Sales Down?

If you have been on the eBay boards or forums for any length of time you will have heard or seen comments along the line of are your eBay sales down this week or month. It always makes me smile, when I hear or see that comment. Very often people point their finger at poor eBay – yes at times they may have glitches in their systems that could cause slower sales, but there are other factors that you need to look at.

  • Sporting events
  • Holidays
  • Major events in the world
  • The weather

And the list goes on and on, but also it can be more closer to home than we like, yes the eBay sales down syndrome can be down to each one of us. Over the years of selling and consulting with with people I have bought it down into three main areas.

Step One – Take a look at the longest listings that have been up. When you have identified those listings that have been running the longest see if there are any tweaks that you can do to revamp them

Step Two – Take a look at all the titles, and make sure you are using all 80 characters. It may surprise you how many still have the original 55 characters. Please do now keyword spam, but use the power words your customers use.

Step Three – Take a look at your pictures and make sure they all meet the new sizes eBay has put into place. This is a minimum of 1600 pixels on the one side.

Step Four – Make sure you have all your eBay item specifics in place, you may use red in your title and mention it in your description, but if you miss it out of your item specifics then you could be loosing out on a lot of viewers and of course we know viewers mean buyers and buyers means profit/

Ok the above four items are just a few of the areas that you can tweak, but if you take time to tweak your older listings you will soon notice an increase in traffic to your eBay store and eBay items. And out of this increase in traffic you will soon be making those sales and no more will you say eBay sales are down.

So next time we see that our eBay sales are down, take a look at some of the factors surrounding your shop, and if you find they are still down even after you have done the tweaks and there are no major events happening in the world, then it might be time to give eBay a call or one of the eBay consultants from around the world and see if they can point you in the right direction, and sorry to say this, you may be selling items people just do not want any more, and yes it can be that simple.
