Do You Squidoo ?

How often do you Squidoo ? No I am not swearing, I am talking about one of the top web 2.0 sites at the moment. One of the common things we get asked when we consult with people, is how do we get more traffic to our eBay shop ? And I will ask them what have you done to drive any traffic. Very ften they look shocked at me, and say what have we done, eBay should do it all for us, why should we bother with driving traffic to the shop.
I look at them and say yes eBay does drive traffic to your shop as long as it has been set up in the correct way and a whole load of other factors. But it is like the story of the hot dog seller, he bought his cart and hot dogs and on his first day he went and stood in a field, the same the next day, and the next day. At the end of the week he got cross and phoned the hot dog cart firm up and said you said you would send people to me. They said they had done as they had promised and put adverts in local papers, and asked him what he had done, he said stood outside in a field. They laughed and said well no wonder you did not sell anything. Stand on a main street near offices and hand out flyers to office workers and tell them all about your hot dog cart. He did this the next day, and now he has over 100 people working for him.
Like the hot dog seller, we have the right products, we are in a bust ecommerce platform, but we also need to tell the world and this is where sites like squidoo come in. You spend an hour and can set up a simple lens and through this lens you can send links back to your store and this will increase the number of visitors you get.
Also with squidoo, you are able to earn small commission when people buy items from your lens but that is for another article and another time. So if you do not squidoo, go to the site and have a look it is all free.
