Counterfeit Items

Counterfeit items are found all over the place, so why when some counterfeit items appear on sites such as eBay and Amazon do people jump up and down and scream and shout. Now selling counterfeit items is illegal on line and offline and governments all over the world have special units trying to stamp out this industry. But every day we see thousands and thousands of new counterfeit items flood the market place. These items can be very basic while some take leading experts days to work out if they are real or counterfeit.

But for today’s article let’s look at counterfeit items on eBay. Ever since eBay opened it’s doors on the world wide web counterfeit items have been a major problem for them. But eBay know this and they spend millions a year with Trust and Safety watch the site for the items. Do they get them all, no, but each day they do catch some and remove them items off the site and where possible they pass the details onto the local police forces for them to deal with.

As mentioned before counterfeit items are illegal, so please do not try and sell them on line or offline in the end you will be caught and will have to pay the price – fine and prison.

How Can You Tell A Counterfeit Item ?

Now I am not an expert, but there are often clues that should ring alarm bells ringing in your head. But again it all depends what you are buying to resell. For example if you are buying a cheap DVD or T-Shirt to resell then it might be quite easy to spot the fake items. For example with a DVD the disc is not in a proper box. Or the insert is badly printed and has spelling mistakes.
If you are buying clothing, then the label maybe in the wrong place or the logo maybe a different colour. You just need to know the items and you will soon see the counterfeit items.

But if you are buying very high end items it can be very difficult to see the fake ones. In times like this you need to use your head and your gut feeling. But let’s look at an example.

One day your in the pub having a drink, everyone knows you sell on eBay some make fun of you while others wish you well. But you have the freedom of having your own business and when everyone hurries back to work you can stay a bit longer. But back to the story, one day a guy come up to you and ask if you want to buy some brand new iPhones. Your ears prick up, it is almost Christmas and you know these will sell like hot cakes. He says he has a few hundred £100.00 each meet him in the car park.

You do the figures you know each one will sell for at least £300.00 so you are about to say you will take the lot, when that red light and bells go off………………………………………………………..

@ Apple only sell to registered dealers and suppliers, not some guy going round pubs

@ They would sell them in a car park

@ The price was too low

The above was just an example, when you are offered an item that sounds too good to be true do some homework and check it out and do not get caught out by counterfeit items.
