If you have been online for sometime, you will have heard the word Keywords thrown about on blogs and sites you go to for training, but how often have you heard the term “Profitable Keywords ? ” Keywords are all about words we use to bring visitors to our sites and eBay shops and listings. Keywords are very important and if we do not use them in the correct way it can cost us a lot of money. And if used in the wrong place can even get your site banned by Google.
But what are Profitable Keywords ? These are keywords that make you money, day in and day out. A profitable keyword is a keyword that your customer or client uses to find your product or your website on the internet. In most cases profitable keywords are not keywords that you a seller may use, and in fact a lot of the time the keywords that we use can drive buyers away and even worse they are words that they just skip over as they do not know what they mean. You may laugh at this, but if you take a proper look at your web-logs you will be able to see the words the buyers use to get to your site or your listings.
Every niche and sub-niche has their own group of profitable keywords, and it is your job to compile a list of all these words and then add these words to your websites, blogs, articles and listings. Yes it will take time and it is best to have these keywords in a spreadsheet so that you can keep adding to them on a regular basis.
But How Do I Find These Profitable Keywords ?
If you are selling or writing in a niche that you know about you will already have a good idea of some of the profitable keywords that people use. But if you are unsure of the keywords, go out and buy some magazines (Not Trade Magazines at the moment), study these magazines and start to write down words and phrases they use when they talk about the niche.
Watch TV programs about the niche, jot down again the phrases and keywords the presenters and people use.
Attend shows and fairs and talk and mix with people, listen to what they are talking about and how they are using the words.
If you follow the above you will have a good grasp of the profitable Keywords that will drive traffic and then buyers to your sites. The reason I asked you to stay away from Trade Magazines and Shows is quite often sellers will use different words than the buyers, and it is the buyers we need and want.
