Buying Stock
The other day while waiting for a bus (I do not drive), I was on the phone to one of my eBay clients, helping her with a listing she had got stuck with. Anyway the bus arrived and I got on, and sat down. A girl who had got on before me, came and asked if she could sit by me and ask me a few questions about eBay. I said sure no problem, any way we chatted and she explained that she had bought a load of Children’s and Baby clothes to sell at party plan, and to her friends who were all having babies. And she had a load of stuff, and due to work pressure she had never got round to doing anything.

I asked her about selling on eBay and had she given that any thought, she said she had, but did not have the time or money to open a shop and list the items, and she asked me would I sell them for her. We had reached Lichfield by now, so gave her my card and she texted me her mobile number. That evening she phoned and said could I go round and explain more and she would she me the clothes she had got. I went round and she had hundreds of items, there was nothing exciting, as she explained she had bought them to sell to her mates etc, (she was 19), so had gone for good quality but low costs most items were in the £4.99 mark. But there were a few Disney items, plus a load of Clubbing wear she wanted to sell.
I explained how a Trading Assistant worked and the costs and said my commission was 35%, at which point she said a few rude words, and said no way mate…………………… But do not worry she was saying that my charges were too low. She said she had bought the items for .99p each, so wanted me to have 50% of the profits, and if it worked out she could buy more expensive clothes and I could do the selling and she would just buy and take the profits.
Added to that she said her mate had closed down a club wear business and might want me to sell the items for her. It just goes to show, if someone asks you what you do for a living always be positive about eBay and you will never know what might happen. If I am honest and I told Amber (The girl I am selling for) this that selling these could take some time and we would not get rich. She knew this and was just happy to get what she could for them.
