Running your own business is often a lonely place, you often have to make decisions that could make or break your business (and at times your family). You need to be bold and strong, each and every day. There are times when you just feel like life is not going anywhere at all. Those clients are not phoning you, those products you bought a few years ago are just not selling. You need to stay strong and be bold.
You need to keep knocking those doors, always looking for a new client or a new product line.
Think about Wal-Mart, do you think they are still selling the same products as they did when they began -(Yes Ok some core products), no every day their buyers are out there banging on doors, following up on leads, making those calls, to find that new product. If you ask any buyer from a large shop or chain of shops, they could tell you, they do not need to go out and look for new products, because they have enough people coming to them to pitch them products.
But does that stop the buyers going out, travelling the world, going to trade shows, of course not, for they all know new products are invented every single day of year.
So how can this help you in your business ? We all need new products or product lines to sell. Every week we need to set aside time to do research, pick up the phone and make that call to ask for a catalogue and price list. We all need to be bold and attend sveral trade fairs each year, looking for something new and exciting.
A good tip is as well as visiting the Trade Fairs in your own industry is to visit one or two, out side your main industry, but products that interest you.
So just be bold when product sourcing.
